FAQ
Guides and frequently asked questions
01How do I import a PDF?+
Tap the + button in the library, or choose Import PDF when the library is empty. Select one PDF with Apple’s Files picker. You can then choose the page layout, reading direction, PDF rotation, and whether the first page is a cover before importing.
02Which page layout should I choose?+
Adaptive is recommended for most books: it pairs adjacent portrait pages in landscape and leaves wide pages on their own. Facing Pages treats each PDF page as a book page and pairs pages in landscape. Single PDF Page is best for PDFs that already contain spreads, slides, or mixed content that should stay on one PDF page.
03How do I switch between left-to-right and right-to-left reading?+
Open the book, tap the center of the reader to show the controls, then open Reading Settings. Change Reading Direction to Left to Right or Right to Left. Page order, side taps, and horizontal swipes all follow that setting.
04How does Auto Crop Margins work?+
Open Reading Settings and turn on Auto Crop Margins. PageGlide removes only safely detected outer white space from the display. It uses a conservative crop to protect the page content, so noisy scans or uneven margins may be cropped less or not at all. The original PDF is never changed.
05How do I zoom and move around a page?+
Pinch to zoom. While zoomed in, drag to pan around the page. Double-tap to switch between a closer view and the full page. Horizontal dragging turns pages only when you are not zoomed in.
06How do bookmarks work?+
Tap the center of the reader to show the controls, then tap the bookmark button on the current page. You can give the bookmark a title. Open the bookmark list from the more menu to jump to, rename, or remove saved bookmarks.
07How do I rename a book or change its cover?+
Touch and hold a book in the library. Choose Rename Book to change only the name shown in PageGlide. Choose Change Cover to select an image with Apple’s Photos picker. Restore PDF Cover returns to a cover made from the first PDF page. The original PDF and the photo in your library remain unchanged.
08How do I use black-and-white inversion?+
Open Reading Settings and choose Dark appearance. PageGlide inverts pages that are black-and-white or close to grayscale. Pages with substantial color stay in their normal colors to avoid damaging readability.
09How do I delete a book?+
Touch and hold the book in the library, choose Delete Book, and confirm. PageGlide removes its app-managed PDF copy, cover, reading position, settings, and bookmarks. The original file you selected in Files remains unchanged.
10Why can’t I import an encrypted or password-protected PDF?+
PageGlide reads DRM-free, unencrypted PDFs that you are authorized to use. It does not remove DRM, decrypt documents, bypass passwords, or circumvent protection. Open or export an authorized, unprotected copy with the document provider before importing it.
11What should I do if a PDF is damaged or fails to import?+
Confirm that the file opens normally in Apple’s Files or Preview app and contains at least one page. Download the file completely if it is still stored only in the cloud, then try again. Empty, damaged, unsupported, encrypted, or password-protected PDFs cannot be imported. If a valid PDF still fails, include your iPad model, iPadOS version, and the displayed error message when contacting support—do not attach a private PDF unless specifically requested.
12Does PageGlide support scanned PDFs?+
Yes. PageGlide supports both standard PDFs and scanned image-based PDFs. It does not perform OCR, text reflow, PDF editing, or full-text search.
